Our Team
Onda is structured into three groups: R&D, Test &
Measurement, and Custom Manufacturing under the leadership
of Dr. Zanelli. With a total of more than 100 years of technical
and management experience in Johnson & Johnson, Siemens,
General Electric, Acuson, Hewlett-Packard, Diasonics, and
many others, this Silicon Valley team is well prepared to
deliver highly valuable services in fulfilling Onda's Mission.
We are a team of highly trained scientists and
engineers, attracted by an exciting and friendly working environment
with great personal and financial growth potential.
Claudio I. Zanelli, Ph.D., CEO & President
Claudio started Intec Research in 1990 with a goal of creating
a center of excellence that would provide leading edge technology
(ultrasound, ionizing radiation, and optics among others),
primarily for medical devices. His work experience covers
the range from startups Sound Imaging and Endosonics to mid-sized
Acuson to the well-established General Electric Medical Systems.
At Onda Corporation, Claudio oversees the technical development
team and with the help of a small but very efficient staff,
manages the business. Claudio has a MSEE degree from the University
of California at Davis and a Ph.D. in Physics from the same
university. He has authored 15 issued patents.
Samuel M. Howard, Ph.D., CTO
Dr. Howard has seventeen years of experience in medical devices,
ultrasound, and acoustic modeling. Prior to joining Intec
in 2001, he performed research and development on ultrasound
transducers and systems for Acuson, and prior to that he completed
his doctoral dissertation at Cornell in the areas of acoustic
modeling and precision measurements under Y.H. Pao. He has
Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from Cornell and a Bachelor's degree
from Harvard, all in Applied Mechanics, and has also been
awarded a number of patents. He believes he has found the
perfect situation at Onda: a job within a block of a dance
studio, so that he can practice his Latin dancing while waiting
for his Finite Element simulations to finish!
Dave Stoft, Senior Electrical Engineer
Dave has over 20 years of experience in digital, analog and
RF circuit design and over 10 years of experience in software
development. He holds two patents for his RF design work on
the HP8992A Transceiver Test Set and contributed to the HPUX
kernel during his 25 years with Hewlett Packard. At
Onda, Dave is responsible for the design, development, and
construction of transducer drive electronics and hydrophone
preamplifiers, providing custom integrated control systems
and software design, plus IT, network, software and web design.
Beyond his education in engineering, Dave holds a
Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's degree in
Computer Science.
